Stamp 0 is a residence permission for non-EEA individuals who wish to live in Ireland without taking up employment or carrying on a business. It is most commonly used by people retiring to Ireland or living here on independent means.
The eligibility requirements and wider application process depend on the applicant’s individual circumstances and should be considered with an immigration solicitor.
Applicants under the independent means route must demonstrate that they can support themselves without relying on the Irish State. They must maintain private medical insurance, and their financial position must be independently verified and certified by an Irish accountancy firm.
Our role is to work directly with applicants and their immigration solicitors to prepare the specialist financial report required for Stamp 0 independent-means applications.
We prepare accounting reports and supporting financial statements for individuals applying to live or retire in Ireland under the Stamp Zero independent means pathway.
We work directly with applicants and alongside their immigration solicitors to present income, assets and expenditure in a professionally prepared format.
A Stamp Zero application may involve much more than supplying a set of bank statements. Applications often hold their financial resources across bank accounts, investment portfolios, pensions, retirement funds and currencies. Our role is to bring that information together and present a clear picture of how the application will support themselves while living in Ireland. We review the underlying records, and prepare supporting statements of income, expenditure, assets and liabilities.
We regularly work with applicants whose financial affairs are based outside Ireland, such as the United States. We are accustomed to dealing with non-calendar statement periods, transfers between accounts, investment transactions and extensive supporting documentation.
Once the records have been reviewed, we prepare a formal accountant’s report supported by the appropriate financial statements and schedules. Where ensure that the information submitted in the application is complete, consistent and easy-to-follow. Where appropriate, we also liaise with the applicant’s immigration solicitors throughout the process.
Our process usually begins with a brief introductory call to discuss the application and the financial resources on which the client intends to rely. We then review the relevant documentation, raise any necessary queries and prepare the financial statements and accountant’s report. Every case is different and the scope will depend on the number of accounts, the complexity of the applicant’s finances and the period being reviewed.
Applicants and immigration solicitors are welcome to contact our office. Where a solicitor is already acting, we will agree the appropriate communication arrangements at the outset and liaise with the solicitor where authorised and required.
